If you’re planning campaigns on Google Ads, you’ll need to do keyword research to find out which words people are searching that may be relevant to the course you are promoting.
There are several free tools available, but they each have their limitations. Since you’re likely about to spend thousands of dollars on advertising, why not do it based on solid data?
Personally I use and recommend SEMrush for keyword research.
It has a very good database of keywords, which means that you will know about keywords that you can’t find in any of the free tools.
The other advantage of SEMrush is that it allows you to check your competitor’s campaigns. What keywords are they running ads for? And in which countries? What types of ad copy do they use? Not that I recommend copying your competitor, but it can provide you inspiration on how to emphasise your own strengths.
Paid plans start around USD 99/month.
If you’re only setting up new ad campaigns occasionally, you can consider to sign up for a paid plan for a month, do all your keyword research and then downgrade back to the free plan.
With the free basic account, you’ll still be able to make 10 queries per day for free.
